McMiller Sports Center Biathlon Range

The McMiller Park biathlon range area consists of an 8-point range with metal biathlon targets, indoor warming shelter, and 3 km of ski trails.

Location

The McMiller Park biathlon range is located in Eagle, Wisconsin at the McMiller Sports Center , part of the Kettle Moraine State Forest-Southern Unit. A vehicle admission sticker and state trail pass (for those over age 16) is required for individuals using the trails and biathlon range at McMiller Park. Biathlon Range Access

Foot/Vehicle access: The biathlon range at the McMiller Sports Center can be accessed from the narrow gravel road next to the trap range when the gate is open. Look for signs that say, LE (law enforcement) and Biathlon Range between the 300 Yard Range and the Novice Shotgun range. When the LE/Biathlon gate is closed, then access the range from the ski trail, as described below.

Ski access: The biathlon range can be accessed via skiing into the range. If conditions allow, XC skiers may enter the biathlon range via the XC trails. Follow signs on the XC trails to the Biathlon Range starting from the new XC trailhead parking lot at McMiller.

Biathlon Trail

A biathlon-specfic loop has been created at McMiller Park that provides direct access to and from the biathlon range area. Both 1km and 2km loops consist of rolling terrain and is groomed for both classical and skate skiing. McMiller Park also offers five additional ski loops, ranging in length from 3-10 km with varying degrees of difficulty. All trails, including the biathlon loop, begin at the parking lot trailhead behind the warming shelter. A State Parks trail pass is required to ski the trails at McMiller Park.

Range Use

The biathlon range is for use only by Wisconsin Biathlon Association members who are biathlon safety certified. For more information about membership requirements, vist the membership page. During the "off-season" (no snow), the biathlon range is available for use only during scheduled club practice times. See the event calendar for more information. During the winter season when the trails are snow covered and open for skiing, the biathlon range is available for use by certified members during daylight hours, pay range fees first at McMiller club office.
